Brenham, Texas is located north-west of Houston and is noted for wonderful examples of Victorian Painted Ladies. A painted lady is the term used for a very ornate, Victorian wood house painted with vivid colors.
St. Matthews was devastated by a hurricane in 1915 and almost 100 years later suffered a major lightning strike on the steeple which damaged the organ and other items in the building. The committee decided to replace the existing organ with a 46 stop, 2 manual Phoenix Organ. The oak console, a rich, deep, red mahogany shade, was a custom stain match to the church woodwork.
Phoenix Organ's Texas representative Roy Daniels installed the instrument.
